The Biarri Applied Mathematics Conference 2018

Invisible Intelligence

The world is changing around us. Optimisation– which used to be hidden behind closed doors is now at our fingertips shaping the way in which we live our lives, move our goods, and make our decisions. From healthcare, sports, transport and manufacturing through to the deployment of next generation fibre networks, mathematics is core to working in the 21st century.

This year the BAM Conference will be bringing together innovators, scholars and thinkers to focus on ‘Invisible Intelligence’ and through expert presentations, lightning talks and panel discussions demonstrate how we are using optimisation and mathematics behind the scenes to keep our world moving.

This year’s BAM will be spread out over two days. The first day on the 20th of November will present cutting edge talks from some of academia’s leading researchers. The second day on the 21st of November will shift gears and present stories from industry around their usage of Invisible Intelligence to redefine the future of their sector.

A look back at previous BAMs

I really liked that presenters had the freedom to do their own thing during their talks, it made the talks more distinct. I also really liked how many different presenters brought videos and interactives.

It was great to have a wide variety of speakers and topics, with plenty of opportunity to grab the speakers afterwards to ask more questions and make contact.
BAM 2016 Attendee

All in all, great conference with lots of enthusiastic people talking about math! Will definitely recommend and come back again!

BAM 2016 Attendee

The most interesting parts of the presentations to me were the practical implications of the work being done rather than technical aspects of the underlying theory – but I’m not a mathematician.

Why BAM?

The Biarri Applied Mathematics Conference is a free two day event that will give you an insight into how companies apply optimisation and mathematical techniques to solve problems in the real world.

Join us this year to see real optimisation in action and through case studies, lightning talks and panel discussions learn about how it’s used to keep our world moving.

BAM2018 is run by Biarri, a company that specialises in mathematical modelling and predictive modelling.
