Alysson Costa

Alysson M. Costa is a Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics – University of Melbourne. He has received his PhD from HEC Montreal / University of Montreal (Canada) in 2006, with the thesis ‘Models and algorithms for two network design problems’, which was developed at the Centre for Research in Transportation (currently CIRRELT) and won the 2007 Cecil Graham Doctoral Dissertation Award.
He has a BEng. and a MSc. in Electrical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (Brazil). Prior to his current position, he has been a Research Fellow in the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) in 2007 and an Assistant Professor at the University of São Paulo (2008-2013). His main research interests are the development of optimisation methods for mixed-integer programming problems and their use in real-world applications.
